Mamanuca Islands day cruises & tours

Sandbanks, coral cays, floating bars and a film-set island — every day trip worth booking, with live prices.

You do not have to stay on an island to see the Mamanucas. Dozens of boats leave Port Denarau every morning, and a day cruise is often the best-value way to get onto the sand — most include hotel pickup, lunch and snorkelling gear.

The trips fall into a few clear types: outer-island cruises to Monuriki and the sandbanks; island day passes to a coral cay or a resort; floating bars and a beach club; and sailing days where the boat is the destination. Every product below is a real, current GetYourGuide listing, and we say plainly where coverage is thin — there are, for example, no surf-trip or scuba-diving listings for the Mamanucas at the time of writing, so those are best booked through your resort.

Which day trip suits you?

I want the classic desert-island day

Go far out: the “Cast Away” island and a sandbank, or settle on a tiny coral cay with lunch included.

Fiji: Monuriki, Mana Sand Bar & Snorkelling Cruise

The most-reviewed Mamanuca day trip on GetYourGuide by a wide margin. A Fijian family-owned boat heads for the outer islands: a sandbar stop near Mana, snorkelling at Monu Cove and time ashore on Monuriki, the uninhabited island used for the film “Cast Away”. It is a full day and a long way out, which is exactly the point.

  • Walk the beach of Monuriki (Modriki), the “Cast Away” island
  • Swim off the Mana sandbar and snorkel at Monu Cove
  • Run by a Fijian family-owned crew
A sandy path through the trees to the beach on Bounty Island, South Sea Island’s neighbour Island day trip from €109
🕒 Full day 📍 From Port Denarau ⭐ 4.5 (268)

Fiji: South Sea Island Full Day Trip with Lunch & Drinks

South Sea Island is the closest Mamanuca island to the mainland — a coral cay small enough to walk around in a few minutes. The full-day trip includes the catamaran ride, a barbecue lunch, drinks and the use of snorkelling gear and kayaks. Simple, good value and very easy with children.

  • About 30 minutes from Denarau by fast catamaran
  • Snorkelling, kayaks and a swim on a tiny coral cay
  • BBQ lunch and drinks included
Tivua Island, a coral cay with a long jetty, seen from the sea Tall-ship day cruise from €100
🕒 Full day 📍 From Port Denarau ⭐ 4.5 (445)

Fiji: Captain Cook Cruises – All-Inclusive Island & Reef Day Trip

Captain Cook Cruises has run sailing day trips from Denarau to a small coral island for many years — long to Tivua, while the current listing describes a sail to Kadavu Lailai. Either way the formula is the same: a slow sail, a beach, lunch, drinks and guided snorkelling. Check the listing for the island your date visits.

  • Sail out on a traditional-style sailing ship
  • Lunch and drinks included
  • Snorkelling over coral gardens from the beach

I want a bar, a pool and music

Floating platforms in the lagoon and a beach club on its own island — all about half an hour to 45 minutes away.

Denarau: Seventh Heaven Floating Bar Day Trip

Seventh Heaven is the other floating pontoon in the Mamanucas: a bar and restaurant on the water with music, daybeds and a reef below for snorkelling. Reviews on GetYourGuide are consistently strong, and it tends to feel a little more relaxed than its better-known neighbour.

  • Floating bar and restaurant in the Mamanuca lagoon
  • Swimming and snorkelling from the platform
  • A calmer mood than a party boat
A palm-fringed Mamanuca beach looking across the lagoon to a low coral island Beach club day pass from €80
🕒 6–7 hours 📍 From Port Denarau ⭐ 4.6 (555)

Fiji: Malamala Beach Club Private Island Day Pass & Transfer

A day pass and return boat transfer to Malamala, a small island set up as a beach club: an infinity-edge pool, cabanas, a white-sand beach and snorkelling off the shore. Food and drinks are bought on the island. It is the easiest “island day” from Denarau for people who want comfort rather than a boat-hopping itinerary.

  • A beach club on its own small island
  • Infinity-edge pool, beach cabanas and a restaurant
  • Short boat transfer from Port Denarau

A day pass with lunch at Castaway, Mana or Malolo — ideal for testing an island before booking a stay.

  • Snorkel alongside reef sharks with guides
  • Buffet lunch on the island
  • Kayaks, paddle boards and snorkel gear provided

I only have a few hours

Half-day islands, sunset cruises from Denarau and a 25-minute flight over the reefs.

Good to know

Mamanuca day cruises: FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Where do Mamanuca day cruises leave from?

Almost all leave from Port Denarau Marina, about 20 minutes from Nadi Airport. A few smaller boats use beaches and jetties north of Nadi; pickup is usually included either way.

Is hotel pickup included?

Usually, from hotels around Nadi, Wailoaloa and Denarau. Coral Coast pickups are sometimes available for a fee. The details are on each listing.

What should I bring?

Swimwear, a towel, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, a rash vest for snorkelling, a card or some Fijian dollars for extras, and a dry bag for your phone.

What happens in bad weather?

Operators cancel or reschedule when the sea is unsafe, and most GetYourGuide listings allow free cancellation up to 24 hours ahead. In the wet season keep a spare day in hand.

Are day cruises suitable for children?

Most are. South Sea Island, Malamala and the sailing-ship cruise are the easiest with small children; Cloud 9 is aimed at adults and may restrict under-18s.

Can I book surfing or diving here?

GetYourGuide currently lists no Mamanuca surf or scuba trips. Book those through your resort, a surf lodge or a local dive centre — see our travel guide.
