Cloud 9, Seventh Heaven & Malamala

Floating bars and an island beach club

Not every “island” in the Mamanucas is an island. Three of the most popular day trips from Port Denarau go to places that exist only for a good afternoon.

Cloud 9 is a two-level floating platform moored over a pale-blue reef in the southern lagoon, with a wood-fired pizza oven, a full bar, daybeds and DJs. Seventh Heaven is a second floating bar and restaurant in the same waters, generally a touch calmer. Malamala Beach Club is solid ground: a small island about half an hour from Denarau turned into a beach club, with an infinity-edge pool, cabanas and a restaurant.

Top things to do: Cloud 9, Seventh Heaven & Malamala

Cloud 9

Pizza, cocktails, music and jumping off the top deck into the lagoon. It is busiest and loudest on weekends and in peak season. Children are sometimes restricted — check the age policy for your date.

Seventh Heaven

The same idea with a more relaxed crowd and good snorkelling straight off the pontoon. Its reviews on GetYourGuide are among the best of any Mamanuca trip.

Malamala Beach Club

The choice if you want sand under your feet, a pool and shade. Full-day and half-day passes include the boat; cabanas and food are extra. It works well for mixed groups and families.

How to get to Cloud 9, Seventh Heaven & Malamala

  • From Port Denarau: each venue has its own scheduled boats, usually with hotel pickup around Nadi and Denarau. Malamala is about 25–30 minutes away; the floating bars around 45 minutes. Compare them on our day cruises page.
  • From island resorts: resorts on Malolo and Malolo Lailai run transfers to the floating bars, which are much closer from there.

Insider tips

  • Trips are weather-dependent: a floating platform in a strong wind is no fun, and operators cancel or reschedule.
  • Check exactly what your ticket includes — some fares carry a food-and-drink credit, others only the transfer.
  • There is little shade on the water. Wear reef-safe sunscreen and a rash vest.
  • Payment on board is normally by card.
